Who is Samuel Joaquín Flores?
Samuel Joaquín Flores is a religious leader whom has influenced an entire era; his unrelenting labor in favor of peace, justice, and human dignity are a demonstration of of his leadership. His humanness, love, and humility have not only been long acknowledged by the faithful members of the Light of the World Church but also by the innumerable people that, without being part of his religious community, have plastered the pages of diverse publications with profound admiration in favor of the tremendous work he carries out.
He was born on February 14, 1937 in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco; and, he has been considered by public and private organizations alike as a distinguished religious individual whose work and example of integrity have impulse the growth of an institution which makes its presence known in 43 countries.
His administration, based on actions of love, are appreciated and valued by hundreds of thousands of citizens of diverse nationalities whom have been witnesses of the intense apostolic labor he has fulfilled since June 9, 1964—the date in which he was called by Jesus Christ for the purpose of leading His Church.
In order to order to understand and respond to the question of who Samuel Joaquín Flores is, it is necessary to have faith. From the perspective of his followers, he is known as the Apostle of Jesus Christ. This word—apostle—means “sent.” In this way, the faith that the Light of the World Church professes is one based on the understanding that God elects a man through whom he transmits his divine desires to the rest of mankind.
Missionary Work
The evangelization of the new tidings of salvation and eternal life for the soul, a divine promise to him who practices Christianity with purity, is the principal mission of an Apostle. With the firm purpose of bridging the gap between mankind and Jesus Christ, Samuel Joaquín has not only encouraged but also helped in the construction of more than three thousand houses of prayer. Among them is the international temple of the Light of the World Church; a religious association of which he is the international director. This magnificent sanctuary reaches more than 80 meters in height and is located in the Beautiful Province, “Hermosa Provincia,” of Guadalajara; and, has been recognized with the International Trophy of Quality in the New Millennium Award in the city of Ginebra, Switzerland on May 22, 2008.
One of the missionary works that the Apostle Samuel Joaquín currently carries out is located in the city of Silao (Guanajuato). There, since October of 2009, the “Monumental Tower of Faith” has been under construction; a construction on a terrain of approximately 20 hectares which will reach the height of 60 meters. The December 13, 2009 edition of “Proceso 1729” published an article titled “The Light of the World Amidst Christian Land” which described the construction in detail.
The Beautiful Province
The Apostle of Jesus Christ decided to construct the Beautiful Province to provide the followers, who have been victims of religious discrimination and have embraced the Gospel, a place of worship. The Beautiful Province is a neighborhood surrounding the international temple in Guadalajara where the majority of its inhabitants profess the Christian faith and, is a place separated from addictive substances. The Beautiful Province model has now been replicated in more than 30 communities of America.
Doctorate of Honoris Causa of “Ibero-america”
Apostle Samuel Joaquin Flores has also sought the social betterment in educational and health spheres. He has managed to established educational centers in all academic levels, and has constructed various hospitals and houses of prayer. This past September 13th 2007 he was recognized in the city of Panama with a Doctorate Honoris Causa of Ibero-america; a title given by the Ibero-american Council in Honor of Educational Quality (CIHCE). Also, that following 14th of February, the city of Guadalajara honored him with the recognition as an Ibero-american Patriarch of Education.
Samuel Joaquín Flores Foundation
Through the foundation that carries his name, Samuel Joaquín has taken special consideration to vulnerable groups. The philanthropic act of giving scholarships to overachieving low-students is counted among one of his numerous tasks. Also, he has given much needed relief aid in disastrous situations such as: the Hurricane Gilberto of 1998, Andrew of 1992, Mitch of 1998, Katrina and Wilma in 2005, Ike in 2009, and, in the earthquakes which occurred in Mexico, Central American and most recently in Haiti. Samuel Joaquín Flores has sent paramedics, doctors, and rescue personnel who have brought with them tons of aid packages consisting of medicine, potable water and food stuffs. The message of Hope in his almost immediate relief missions to the places in which such lamentable works of nature have occurred has brought comfort to thousands of people.
The World Celebrates his Birth
Dr. Samuel Joaquín Flores is considered in Mexico as a religious leader of the 20th century (“Epoca” Magazine N. 448, 03/01/2000). The result of his contribution has been recognized in numerous occasions by governments, municipalities, states in Mexico and the international world. History respects those that give their lives for the benefit of humanity but, in the essence of his ministry, Dr. Samuel Joaquin has not sought the praise of the works he has carried out in more than 45 years of Apostolic Evangelization. Instead, his mission has been to elevate all believers to a higher quality of spiritual life: to be better citizens in the world, and better Christians for God.
Maybe this is the cause by which many rejoice in his birth.
